I study the intended and unintended consequences of public policies using quasi-experimental methods, with a focus on health, crime, education, and social insurance. My work has been published in the Journal of Human Resources, the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, and the Journal of Law and Economics.

My research has been supported by grants from the Social Security Administration, the Bank of America Charitable Foundation, and the U.S. Bank Foundation. I teach Principles of Microeconomics, Economics of Healthcare, and Applied Microeconomic Analysis at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and I direct the Financial Fitness Program at the College of Business and Economics.
